On 28 January 1919, the day the Spanish Flu hit Melbourne, Katharine Susannah Prichard and Hugo Throssell were marred in the registry office. Coincidentally, on 28 January 2006, Nicole and I were married at Claremont Baptist Church. I wrote about it for the KSP Writers’ Centre here.

Happy anniversary to you and Nicole, and and posthumously to KSP and Hugo!

Yes, happy anniversary to you!
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if a photo of them turned up!
I bet there was one. Back in those days there were street photographers, weren’t there? Surely one at least would have hung around the registry office…

You would think so… it would be a thrilling find after not having one all these years.

Places like the state library have hundreds of photos where they can’t identify who’s in them. When I was using Facebook I used to see some of them posted there with an appeal for people to get in touch if they knew who the people in the photo were. I’ve got lots of unidentified photos in my stuff about my music teacher Valda Johnstone, but I don’t have any idea how to go about researching them. (Not that KSP would have been among them, they were opera singers, ballet stars and musicians).
