Here’s the cover for my biography of Katharine Susannah Prichard! The Red Witch is now available for pre-order from the publisher’s website ahead of the 3 May 2022 release in hardback and ebook – https://www.mup.com.au/books/the-red-witch-hardback. It’s still five months away, but feeling much closer with this. I’m so pleased it will be published in hardback and under the Miegunyah imprint of Melbourne University Publishing. The cover uses a 1949 photograph by D. Glass of Katharine in her sitting room at Greenmount. So happy with the design. I hope to speak about the book somewhere near you next year – will just have to see what Covid (and WA) does.

That is some awful stuff with Alec Baldwin (just up the road from here–not quite my neighborhood but I have stopped to eat lunch on that ranch/movie set on a long bike ride). I guess I can understand why Baldwin’s tweets from earlier in the week about the cleanliness of the Albuquerque airport restrooms got less play in Australia than the shooting of the cinematographer. (The local NM media sure loved restroom tweets.) If we could clean up our cavalier attitudes towards guns like we can clean a toilet, that would be something to celebrate.
BTW, about my pre-order: I balked at the overseas shipping costs and opted for the e-book. I am hoping that 1. I will still get to see any pictures you might have included, and 2. you will still get maximal royalties, but if either of these things is not the case, I will shell out for the BOOK book. Let me know!
